The Storm

One day I was on a road trip to Colorado with DJ. DJ is my best friend. I have known her my whole life and we have been through so much together. We have had our ups and downs but we have always been there for eachother. There were really big clouds, light and dark, and they were forcing by pushing into each other and making this really big cloud. There were hard rushing winds and it almost looked like a tornado, so Dj and I started getting worried.
We were also in the car with our Nene, and Dj and I met in Nene's house so I have basically known her my whole life. Nene has always been there for me and I love her to death. She treats me like her own, by letting me go with her to run errands, feeding me, basically what a normal parent would do.
The big clouds almost looked like they were combining into a big dark cloud that was going to strike with a big thunder sound. But we couldn't turn back now, so we just kept going and didn’t look back. We were scared that lightning might strike the car or a tornado might come through and we were really frightened by all the light and thunder, but we got to our destination safely.
This moment made me brave because I realized that you shouldn’t overthink before something is done. I realized while the storm was dying down that we were going to be okay and there was nothing to worry about. I think bravery is something where you can believe in yourself and overcome the things you want to do. Even though sometimes it can get hard, you just have to get through it. I think I became a brave person because of this, because sometimes you can't push yourself through fear. The way my family helped me through this was they made me feel like I wasn’t alone and safe through it all. I think the way I overcame my fears made me feel confident in myself and that I could get through anything with just being brave.
